The island of Chios is known worldwide for mastic, which has been named after this group of medieval villages in southern Chios. At first you will find the “painted” Pyrgi 24 km. from the city of Chios, a lively legend of medieval style.

Very close to Pirgi towards Emporio is the Museum of Mastiha which is one of the most modern and innovative museums in Greece. Next stop at the picturesque Olympus with a cave ,reference ,just 8km from the village with rocks of 195-140 million years.

Last but not least is the Mesta one of the most characteristic fortress villages that decorate the island of mastic since the Byzantine years.
